Enjoy the day and enjoy the half-off candy on Monday even more!
I need to get back to it - will get caught up on everything next week.
Oh, Joules! The postcards and dollars arrived safely! The cards are beautiful! I am envious of the lovely country where you live! TX is BORING!
And if I had known you were going to have to work so hard to get me that cash I would have told you to pay it forward on something in the future. Next time, let's do that, okay?
I will be mostly away from 'online' this three-day weekend. I am off for "Spring Holiday" Friday. It's really Good Friday, but we mustn't offend anyone by calling it that on campus!
I have been feeling like I am trying to either catch a cold or have a sinus infection. I am just beat and weary when I get home from work. I usually fall into nap-mode for a few minutes while rat is playing FF4 and I still feel tired.
I am going to try and rest a lot, take mega-doses of vitamins, work on a beta, maybe write a little, watch more anime and just be a slug most of the weekend.
rat has now changed the names of his main FFIV characters. They are now Putz, Whiner, Dick and Bitch. It is so funny reading the dialogue now -
Bitch: Oh Putz! Putz: Oh Bitch! Whiner: Fight, Dick! Dick: Putz, it's always nice when we go at it...
Dick and Putz like to fight together... Has the yaoi been evident? You bet!
About Fruits Basket:
I finished watching ep four today at lunch, then realized rat really had to watch this series with me. He is such a shoujo boy. So we watched the first four tonight and he is really enjoying it. I knew a guy who likes to watch the Oxygen Channel would like Fruits Basket.
Of course, Kyo the cat is such a hoot! I can hear Shuichi coming out when his voice gets husky when he gets mad and he yells, "Uresai!" and other things.
rat likes Kyo in angry-cat mode. He just laughs and laughs.
So far, my favorite character is Shigure. His calmness in the chaos is hilarious to watch and I just love a man in kimono! I like the design of his face as well. It has enough bishie to it to be attractive yet it has enough maturity to make the face trustworthy. I am worried the design is in place to throw the viewer off!
I blame teletha for my recent yaoi spending spree.
The link on teletha's lj was to http://www.yaoi-manga.com/, with a petition about having the "Only the Ring Finger Knows" novels translated into English. Sounds good to me!
I looked around after signing the petition and found these cute guys, this and this. I had to have them. I wanted this too but it is a special order and I was too lazy to email a request for it this morning before work.
I hope the XL sizes will be fine. I am INCREDIBLY disappointed in the Gravi shirts TokyoPop offered - their XXL was for a size XS adult! We are talking about TINY ITTY BITTY shirts! I swear the shirts were made for children! I can just imagine those of you with girl children dressing them in Gravitation teeshirts, just to knock your kids' teachers for a loop!
To finish this entry - the hair meme nicked from deathlike:
You are white-headed. You are lucky and optimistic. People like you, and your accepting. nature. You are very popular, mature, and irresistable.
I finished watching Cyber City OEDO 808 this weekend and watched the four eps of Petshop of Horrors. I re-watched the first ep of Fruits Basket (saw it first during Anime Club) during lunch today.
I liked the graphic style and colour choices of CCO808. The main colour palette is a variety of medium to dark blues, black and white, a few skintones and a striking Xmas red. Some nice lighting effects occur. The charas are interesting enough you would like to know more backstory. Except for Benten, no pretty boys are around (Is Benten really male?). The faces have character and most of them are relatively ugly men, which helps with believability. I kept expecting the cast from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex to have walk-ons. The two universes could blend well together.
I had seen the first Petshop of Horrors ep during Anime Club. The other three were also close enough to the manga to be satisfying. Nice visuals with a touch of cg and deliciously dark and twisted.
Count D's seiyuu's name sounded familiar: Toshihiko Seki - so I looked up the man. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the soft-spoken D was also the gruff growly Genjo Sanzo (Saiyuki), Riki (Ai no Kusabi), Watari (Yami no Matsuei), Duo (Gundam Wing), Iruka (Naruto), as well as a LONG list of many others!
Yes, I haven't been around lately and I am leaving again today - I have been watching some of my new anime, sleeping, reading some SF, doing a couple oekaki and finishing up a piece of one-shot writing over this long weekend.
It's nothing personal, folks - I just needed to get away and focus my energies on some creative things.
I will be back sometime tomorrow (Monday), where I will attempt to try and get caught up with everything and everybody.
Weekday breakfast (doesn't change unless I completely miss it):
~A bowl of cold cereal - either Cheerios, Special K or Frosted Flakes ~One Owens (preferred) or Jimmy Dean sausage and bisquit
Weekday lunch (doesn't change unless lunch is brought in from the outside or the office goes out): ~One Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice frozen dinner - all chicken choices
Weekday dinner:
~Sometimes take-away, sometimes nothing, sometimes snack food, sometimes leftovers
I considered doing the food-for-a-week list with you this week, but I eat the same thing in the morning and our eating habits are pretty boring. It's not anything to write about, really.
I've met prosthetic legs with more get-up-and-go than you. Could you be less melancholy and go out and do something?
brought to you by interim32. wanna know your lj's moodring color? enter your user name and hit the button. (discussion thread)
I am too tired to do anything, let alone go out and do something. Does work count as doing something, especially when it entails working all day at helping idiots who do not listen to instructions during a demo?
I was stupid enough to start singing along to madrigals tonight on the way home from work so now I am living with chest pain, again.
We are playing Spyro IV. I find myself hating it. The controls are not as responsive, the interface is sticky and the artwork is less than stellar.
Mother Nature is refusing to begin, which means I just may be skipping every other one yet again. This means I may be dealing with the crap I was dealing with before and had to have laser surgery on one ovary to clean it up. I will give it two more months. By then it will be close to time to see the doc and we can discuss this again. The meds are supposed to stop this from happening. Is my menopause-to-come going to be so strong it will over-ride meds?
Slept most of the weekend but still tired. Had a pms headache this morning so I was in bed until 1pm, when I got it down to a dull roar. This shit also makes me very sleepy. The meds are supposed to help alleviate this, so I know it would be worse without drugs, and it is pretty bad now.
We finished Ratchet and Clank last week but it gave us the option to go back into the game with all our weapons and money (sadly, no gadgets), so we did. Much easier this way. Big guns kill many enemies quickly. Gold morpho-ray makes big chickens. Gold Glove of Doom makes more effective nasties to blow up baddies. It has been mostly rat's game this time. He is attempting to get all the skill points this time. We like getting all the skill points. So far we have most of them and so various secret sections have opened for us, like commercials, an interview, character sketches, etc. We both hate the hover board shit and they have skill points in them. Grr. I suppose if we played skateboard games we would be better at it, but we don't like those kinds of games. We like comic mischief and puzzles and nothing that's 'all arcade, all the time'.
Hormonal rage will probably begin tomorrow and I have to be at the office early for the workshop setups. I feel the headache coming back, so I am going to go to bed now.
The home PC is finally moving faster than a turtle again. rat actually took the modem out of my machine and networked my pc to 'reach over' and hook up with the new video station pc he is building. The new one is a much faster machine as well. So now I am going to see if I can get caught up with everything from home.
Next week is Spring Break. On Monday and Tuesday, the dept will be teaching all-day classes again, with Flash during the two mornings (I HATE Flash!) and Dreamweaver (again) during the two afternoons. I will need to get to work early those days to turn on the computers and have them set up with the software open and load the assets before classes then stay to work those workshops to assist the trainers. I hope I can sit in the back and piddle with Fireworks and Photoshop during most of that time, at least during the Dreamweaver workshop. I will need to do the Flash work so I can know what's going on. I need to remember to take some Gravi graphics with me so I can futz with icon stuff. Wednesday and Thursday are normal days in the lab. Everything shuts down Friday so the regular full-time staff actually gets a day off. The campus remains closed the entire weekend.
The following Friday, we get off again, this time for what is termed "Spring Holiday" but it is actually Good Friday. We cannot make any religious references now, can we? The Academic Calendar mentions Thanksgiving but does not mention the word "Christmas" anywhere. We cannot offend any international students! For a while there, they did not even want any of the areas to put up Xmas trees, because we might offend someone. Xmas trees are pagan, idiots! Then, when we moved into the new building they wanted to purchase matching holiday decorations for the whole place and no one would be allowed to put up anything of their own. Budget cuts stopped that nonsense.
I am looking forward to having two Fridays in a row off. I am still not up to par. Every night this week I have been falling asleep in front of the TV in the early evening. I go to bed later in the evening and when I wake up I still feel like I have not gotten any rest. I have been drinking hot Chai tea with caffeine at work to keep awake.
It is interesting - mine is a year older and a bit slower than his. Mine is a 400 and his was a 550. The now dead computer was going to be mine but we never switched it over. It has always been much more flaky than mine.
Anyway, now he has to start gathering new parts together to start the physical rebuild. He is going to use the same case.
This means my computer's internet connection is going to remain super-slow for a LONG time. It is so bad, sometimes it takes six/seven times for a refreshed page to finally show something. I get a LOT of dead pages because it takes so long to get a page called up.
So, rat did not go to work at all this week because he still felt bad.
We both think we are almost back to normal, but eating real food is the ultimate test. We have both eaten little bits of real food over the past few days and it is a waiting game now to see what our bodies will do with it.
I went to the bank this morning and now think I need a nap.
*ping* to Joules: I just received a confirming email - your package has been shipped and you should expect to see it arrive in 5-7 days.
*ping* to mel: I sent an email to all the Anime Club officers except Adeze, because the damned district email system refused to let me do so. Anyway, I will not be at club today because I am still feeling poorly. Someone from the dept will open and close for you and the members.
*ping* to Aja and pato: I will be around today after all since I will not be going to the Anime Club to do the sponsor thing. Ignore my email from last night and let's see if we can meet up at some point today.
*ping* to Talon: Smooch! Great talking to you last night!
In other news:
We are still not well. rat did not go to work again today, which is highly unusual for the geezer boy. I will probably go to work on Monday but I suspect I will not last the day. I cannot stay vertical for long periods of time.
rat continued to hurl yesterday morning. I kept sending him back to bed for a nap after a bout because he would sit in his chair and doze off. One of these days he is going to fall over and knock himself out.
Although I was still shaky, I was the more healthy of the two, so I threw some clothes on and drove over to the local Braums for two extra-large cherry limeades and two one-scoop cups of basic vanilla ice cream. When I got back, both sharks were circling so rat handed me some lunch meat and I fed them. Then I called in a Chinese food order - steamed rice for rat, vegetable fried rice for me - and walked to the shop next door to pick it up.
I ate just a little of my rice and thought I was doing fine, then about 20 minutes later I regretted it. I would have thought my system would be somewhat recovered by now, but no. I went to bed and slept four hours after my little bout. This stuff truly drains a body.
Still haven't tried the ice cream yet.
Seems we will be living on liquids for a while. rat does NOT eat soup of any kind, idiot. He equates it with being ill and refuses to touch it. I am the same with cream of wheat, but cream of wheat and oatmeal are things used to glue wallpaper, not eat.
rat is not going to work today, which is also highly unusual. It's a good thing I did take off this week, because I would have had to be gone because of this crap anyway.
So I am finally feeling better health-wise yesterday evening and rat turns around and begins projectile vomiting in his bathroom, scaring the shit out of me with the noise. The man is NEVER sick so I was really worried. At least it was not as frightening as the time last year when he had chest pain and I rushed him to the hospital at midnight - thankfully it was acid reflux.
A few more sessions in the bathroom, now with both ends going, he was feeling better. He finally came to bed and found me working on a fic on craptop ni. I finished up my thoughts and we went to bed.
I did NOT get sick like this last Sunday. It was more like stabbing gut and back pain.
With both of us being ill and other things happening which is making me consider throwing in the towel about certain issues, it has not been a good vacation week so far.
I think I will go back to bed with my new Yami no Matsuei manga and new Japanese study books.
Thanks: --> to Lia, my sensei, who has inspired me to draw again. I
wouldn't be doing this without your support, Domo Arigato!
--> to Talon, for sending me her fabulous fics, inspiring me with her writing to draw my first
illustration for a story and actually liking what I drew.
--> to Dasia, for her words of encouragement when drawing her original chara.
--> to Joules, a wonderful epic fic writer, for liking my art enough to want to post them with Talon's
and her own stories.
--> to Lutra, the other half of the epic team, for being so supportive.
--> to Jacque' & Becca Raddittzu, we met on eBay as bidder and sellers and now we are face-to-face
friends. You showed us the real DBZ with your fansubs. It's all your fault the house is full of
doujinshi! *LOL*
